Neutral with a slpash of colour.

Having a play about with colour and pulling threads, playing around with proportions.

Dividing the fabric up by pulling sections of threads out have really pushed the samples forward, it seems to create a movement within each piece and breaks up the structure of the fabric.

I'm going to go back to my original embroidered fabrics and incorporate some f the stitched patterns into these samples.

You can already see that beginning to happen with the florescent yellow detail in the above sample, keeping the detail small and subtle it fits well with the neutral feel to these samples in contrast with the previos brightly coloured samples.

Design ideas from recent samples.

I've been playing around with my more recent samples and experimenting with repetition and placing samples together to contrast patterns and colour.

More drawing.

In these drawings i've combined different aspects from both my inspiration and practice.
Painting on variety papers these for example are on tracing papers and the top image on a glossy translucent paper.

To continue moving my embroidery on with the project I have stitched into the drawings experimenting with combining my two inspirations and working on compositions.

Back to Thailand.

Having been looking at the painters in my previous post its pushed me to look back at my original source of inspiration..
Thailand.

But.. this time i've been looking less for pattern and more for
painting and composition inspiration
this is in the hope that it will help me move my samples in a more colourful direction.

pulling threads.

I've been busy pulling threads and dying my fabrics.
These work really well along side the hand embroidered samples and i'd like to and subtle details of patterns into these as at the moment they don't look finished, but this is definitely a step in the right direction for moving my practice forward.
